"Deauville, Mon Amour!"

More than just the nearly concurrent G7 summit, 47 countries gathered in Deauville for the 64th annual meeting of the PTCOG (Particle Therapy Cooperative Group), the leading international research and education group in the field of cancer treatment using “particle” radiotherapy (protons and heavy ions, as opposed to photons, which are considered “conventional” and the gold standard in radiation therapy).

For many participants, this visit was “love at first sight” (in the words of PTCOG President Prof. Marco DURANTE, GSI, Darmstadt, Germany).

The Venue

The elegant resort, built in the “Norman” style, and its “Deauville International Center (CID)” proved perfectly suited to welcoming and accommodating approximately 1,400 participants (excluding accompanying persons) for nearly a week: doctors, physicists, biologists, engineers, and industry representatives, as well as—for the first time—radiologic technologists and dosimetrists, who participated in dedicated sessions. The uncertain geopolitical context and the distance from major international airports appear to have had little impact on this conference, which will remain the largest ever organized by the PTCOG and on par with the most recent annual conferences of the French Society of Oncological Radiotherapy (SFRO).

The Industrial Exhibition and Site Tour

The industrial exhibition, spread over 2,000 m², will be remembered for its display of a nearly “life-size” model of the innovative compact (superconducting) cyclotron, the “C400,” the true “superstar” of the 2026 lineup. [...]

“Once again, a big thank you to the Deauville International Center for hosting us for the 16th Scientific Days of the Cancéropôle Nord-Ouest in May 2024! 220 researchers and clinicians from the Hauts-de-France and Normandy regions gathered to present the results of their research in the field of cancer! Three intense days of scientific sessions focused on key themes such as RNA and Cancer, Artificial Intelligence and Cancer, Microbiomes and Cancer, and more—with ample opportunity for young researchers to present scientific posters!
The CID’s highlights: Its location in Deauville is very easily accessible for both of our regions. With the 60 scientific posters displayed at the exit of the auditorium and throughout the break and cocktail areas, this greatly facilitates interaction and a friendly atmosphere! Finally, the CID team is very attentive to our needs; their flawless organizational and technical management allows us to focus on what matters most: welcoming our participants, discussing advances in cancer research, and fostering collaborations!”

Deauville offers the perfect setting for a conference of this scale. It is a charming town with more than enough lodging capacity to accommodate the 500 conference participants, who will be coming from France, as well as Belgium, Germany, Italy, Morocco, and Romania. It has everything needed to ensure a pleasant and efficient event: a modern convention center, hotels, restaurants—all within easy reach. Here, everything is within walking distance, which makes it easier for attendees to navigate the event.

Frankly, everything was perfect. I’d like to highlight the warm welcome and the on-site team’s exceptional responsiveness. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication played a key role in the success of this event. This team was able to respond to every request with remarkable speed and kindness. This allowed us to stay focused on the content of the conference without worrying about logistical details.

The quality of the event truly impressed everyone. We were welcomed into magical venues, with a unique atmosphere and spaces that left a lasting impression. It was simply breathtaking! The choice of Les Franciscaines for the gala evening, for example, added a touch of sophistication and magic to the event. This setting helped create an atmosphere conducive to conversation and the joy of being together.

The positive feedback was unanimous. Our guests were delighted by the organization, the hospitality, and the beauty of the setting. We heard praise for the quality of the services and the hospitality. And to tell you the truth, no matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find a single negative point! For the past 3 years, we have been organizing the Normandy Clinical Microbiology Day at the Villa le Cercle of the C.I.D. Deauville, which brings together 70 practitioners from all the hospitals in Normandy and the private sector. Apart from the scientific program, the success of this event is due in particular to the chosen site, the Villa le Cercle in Deauville and to the personalized organizational support of the C.I.D.
The site of Deauville was identified very early on because it is ideally located at the center of the Normandy road network. It is also an undeniable asset for the invited speakers because of the SNCF line and the town's reputation.
Easy to access, functional and convivial, Villa le Cercle is an ideal historical place to organize scientific meetings from 50 to 100 people. The three adjoining rooms are bright and offer different spaces for conferences and exhibitors. The outdoor space allows mobility and facilitates exchanges during breaks.
But the "plus" of this site is the C.I.D. team which year after year positions itself as a proactive partner of the event. The proposed formula includes the sound system of the place, the loan of the projection equipment, and the presence of a technician on site all day. The C.I.D. team organizes coffee breaks and offers several catering options that can be adapted to the organizers' wishes: on site or in a nearby restaurant, in the form of a buffet or seated meal. In short, on D-day, everything is ready to welcome us and talk about medicine and scientific progress in complete serenity.

With a very professional and attentive team and its "all-in-one" environment in Deauville, the C.I.D. with its top-of-the-range infrastructure is a rare destination in France for the organization of demanding and responsible conferences such as the AMRAE Meetings.

The exceptional setting of the CID and the high quality of the professional support provided allow for a serene organization of events. The sales teams and project managers are available and attentive and it is a real pleasure to be able to collaborate with the entire CID team.

We have evolved in a very pleasant place: it is large, spacious, we particularly appreciated the Michel d'Ornano auditorium because the participants are always very well placed. The committee rooms are new, very well adapted, with touch screens, the equipment is perfect. So far, Deauville has been the best destination for the organization of our event. Organizing an event, even an ambitious one, at the C.I.D. is very easy, the teams go out of their way to meet our requirements, which can be strong and late! The pressure on the organization is reduced and it is very appreciable.

Organizing an event at CID guarantees a "Wow" effect for our participants as soon as they arrive. The major added value of the CID is its team, which is always ready to listen, and available to meet our slightest expectations and with a fantastic capacity for adaptation.

We selected Deauville for its charm, its reputation, its proximity to Paris, and for the quality of its hotels.
The C.I.D. seemed to us to be the perfect place to organize our event: indeed, located at the seaside and having an infrastructure corresponding in all points to our needs (auditorium, rooms of under commissions, Terrace...)
Our convention was widely acclaimed by all our guests in 2017, so we repeated the adventure in 2018 by changing the format to surprise our guests ... the bet was daring however we took up the challenge together and made a full house (99.5% satisfaction rate ... never seen!)
The great strength of C.I.D. is the quality of all the teams on the site: ultra organized, always available, and in search of solutions, they were of a formidable effectiveness, and we appreciated this collaboration very much, as well as all our partners besides!
In a few words, it is the collective that made this event a success!
