    Carmen ballet

    Show 847

A feminist parable before its time, the revolutionary Carmen planted — a century before May ’68 — some fine banderillas in the flanks of patriarchy. Banderillas? Forget folklore, François Mauduit conjures up a Carmen for our times. A former Maurice Béjart dancer, now at the helm of his own Ballet, the choreographer has set out to reshuffle the cards of gender and desire in a neo-classical adaptation for performers drawn from the world’s leading troupes. Relying on choreography of the highest order and an assertive theatricality, men and women overturn stereotypes to express the full complexity of love. This complexity is also eloquently echoed in the rich musical backdrop chosen by François Mauduit. The iconic score of Carmen travels with other lesser-known music by Georges Bizet, is transformed by borrowings from different adaptations — guitar, orchestral suite — and even escapes into fantastic horizons by quoting André Messager’s Isoline. A musical tale in which two young lovers swap sexes to continue loving each other, against all odds. From time immemorial, love has always been a rebellious bird!

    Introducing the company

The first troupe set up by François Mauduit dates back to 1999, and was initially made up of amateurs. In 2002, the first summer tours were organized on the Normandy coast. With the 2004 tour, the troupe was made up mainly of professionals from various international companies. In 2006, the troupe took the name Compagnie Chorégraphique François Mauduit and established itself as a professional company.

Composed of dancers trained at the best schools (Opéra de Paris, Conservatoires nationaux) and all graduates of leading international companies, the Compagnie has set itself the goal of offering audiences a varied repertoire combining the great classical tradition with the latest contemporary creations, in order to open up dance to as many people as possible, with performances of the highest technical and artistic quality. François Mauduit, a former student of the Paris Opera Ballet School, is a passionate choreographer and dancer. Strongly influenced by his time with Maurice Béjart, he embodies the project of this Company, deploying his inexhaustible energy, talent and creativity to win the challenge of bringing a neo-classical dance company to life in France. Since September 2006, the Company has danced over 800 hundred times in France and abroad. In all, over 10,000 spectators have attended the Company’s various shows since its creation.

    Running time: 1h30
    Music: Georges Bizet, Edith Piaf
    Choreography: François Mauduit
    Costumes : Justin Arienti

    Trade Show

Deauville has long been linked to the history of the automobile, thanks to the many events organized by the major brands that have called in here, staging RALLYS or memorable gatherings.
So it’s only natural to create this new event at the CID in Deauville, the only seaside venue large enough to host such a car show.

The event also features an auction of magnificent vintage vehicles, and provides an opportunity to spend a convivial moment with family and friends, around the same passion: THE OLD CAR.

    Who exhibits?
All those involved in the classic car market and everything associated with it. Numerous professionals will be present, including saddlers, coachbuilders, artists, brokers, clothing and luggage sellers, insurers and many more.
You’ll find vintage posters and paintings, as well as retro-style jackets and motorsport watches. You can even unearth original furniture, such as coffee tables with F1 engines or rims from the blockbusters of the era!
